Almost exactly midway between Neustadt and Landau and somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of the Wine Route, Weyher is one of the few villages located directly on the edge of the Haardt Mountains and is an ideal starting point for challenging hikes or leisurely strolls.
Within easy walking distance are:
- Villa Ludwigshöhe, the summer residence of Ludwig I of Bavaria, featuring a permanent exhibition by the Palatinate painter Max Slevogt;
- Rietburg Castle (also accessible by chairlift) with a large viewing terrace overlooking the Rhine plain;
- Schweizer Haus, above Weyher;
- Several Palatinate Forest huts are within a 10-km radius.
Rewarding excursions include:
- Hambacher Castle (13km);
- Speyer (30km); Old Town, Jewish Quarter, and Imperial Cathedral;
- Weißenburg in nearby Alsace (40km);
- Schwetzingen Castle (50km);
- Heidelberg (65km);
